Meet Emily, The Founder of Glow Workwear
I looked one last time for a company that was (finally) making women’s workwear. By that time I had founded and owned a regional tree care company with my spouse.
We met on a forest service wildland fire crew.
On fire crew days, I’d lay on break and look up to the sky and wonder “if all people are now equal, why do the crotch on my pants reach down to my midthigh? I thought: I don’t think these pants expected this body. That seems strange in this day and age.”
With two entrepreneurs, in the family, it’s hard to let a good problem go to waste.
Below is an actual transcript of my interview process, as I hired myself to be the CEO of my own company. Yes, I was the only person I interviewed. It was rigorous.
Do you like soft things:
Yes
Do you like dirt:
Yes
Do you enjoy pants that simultaneously fall off your butt while cutting into your waist?
No
Do you believe that fabric exists that can both create a pleasant sensory experience and protect your legs/body/arms?
Yes.
Working and playing outside is what I enjoy.
I believe lots of people, females, women, girls, and the greater gender-expansive community love to play and work outside too.
That’s why I am passionate about meeting you, hearing your stories and making stuff with you and for you. I believe the path forward will have more founders and entrepreneurs that look like you, hold positions of leadership like you, and make awesome stuff that considers your relationship with the outdoors.
